Brenton Garen / Editor-in-Chief

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Malibu/Lost Hills Station will conduct a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint this Friday, Feb. 21 in the City of Malibu between the hours of 7 pm to 3 am.

Locations of such checkpoints are never released to the public in advance.

Deputies will be contacting drivers passing through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

Deputies will also check drivers for proper licensing and will strive to delay motorists only momentarily.

When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.

Drivers caught driving impaired can expect jail, license suspension, and insurance increases, as well as fines, fees, DUI classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000.

Here you go again, announcing a DUI blitz date. Just do these at random times unannounced. How about you do one on Saturday morning, and catch the people who are still drunk/drugged the day after. This is done in Australia and works very well to remind people that you can still be impaired from alcohol/drugs the following day
