Santa Monica police are hoping the public can help identify a female who has cashed forged checks that exceed $30,000.

Between February and May of this year, the woman (pictured right) has been seen entering several financial institutions, where she then produces a counterfeit check with the forged signature of the victim to be cashed. It is estimated that the loss to the victims involved exceed $30,000.

The suspect is described as a female black, 25-30 years old, thin build, long straight dark hair, dark eyes.

Investigators are requesting assistance and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Robert D'Andrea at 310.458.2201 ext. 6679, Sergeant Henry Ramirez at 310.458.8453, or the Santa Monica Police Department 24 hours at 310.458.8495.

The Banks suffer the loss Not the account holder. This makes us, taxpayers, stockholders, bank employees the victims. The account holder funds endure a hassel, no doubt, but the bank makes the whole.
