A man without a valid driver’s license was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 29, after being pulled over by a Santa Monica police officer for using a cell phone while driving.
At 6:50 am an officer of the Santa Monica Police Department was on patrol and heading southbound in the 1200 block of California Ave. when he spotted a driver in the opposite lane talking on his cellphone.
The officer executed an emergency U-turn and pulled the offending vehicle over for the cellphone violation.
The officer then discovered (by way the computer technology he possessed in his police vehicle) that this man did not have a valid driver’s license.
The officer transported this individual to police headquarters so that his identification could be verified.
He was subsequently identified and issued citations for the cellphone crime and driving without a license. Bail was set at $100.
