A 64-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested in Santa Monica on Friday, Dec. 20 after randomly punching a woman in the chest on a sidewalk, causing her to fall to the ground.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the area of 10th Street and Wilshire Boulevard at 10 am on this day after hearing about a fight that had happened.
When they arrived the officers spoke with the victim who told them that she had been walking westbound on Wilshire Boulevard when she saw a man walking in the opposite direction.
The woman stated that it appeared that their trajectories had placed them on course for a collision so she had decided to alter her direction by a few degrees.
When they were in arm’s length of each other the man suddenly punched her in the chest, causing her to fall down to the ground.
The victim told the officers that she was desirous of a private person’s arrest so the officers obliged and arrested the man, who was still in the vicinity.
This L.A. man was charged with assault. Bail was set at $20,000.
