Santa Monica Police Arrest Granada Hills Man For Driving Without License:

Santa Monica police arrested at Granada Hills resident on Sunday, July 20 after being caught driving on a suspended license and in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were on patrol in the area of 18th Street and California Avenue at 6:40 pm on this day when they were flagged down by some concerned citizens who had seen a man peering through the windows of apartments in the area.

The officers, armed with a detailed description (a man of a specified racial grouping wearing a black backpack and blue baseball cap) of this suspect, went in search of their man.

The officers soon noticed a white Chevrolet in the area with a man who fit the description sitting in the driver seat.

The officers pulled the vehicle over after it had committed a minor traffic infraction and began investigating.

As the officers were speaking with the driver they noticed that he appeared nervous and was sweating profusely.

The officers then discovered that this man was driving on a suspended license and after searching the vehicle discovered a glass pipe of the kind that is typically used to smoke methamphetamine.

The officers arrested this 23-year-old man and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. Bail was set at $300.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of The Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
