Santa Monica police arrested a 30-year-old Los Angeles woman on Thursday, Dec. 26 after being caught stealing cosmetics from a Rite-Aid store.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were requested to go to the Rite-Aid store at 1331 Wilshire Boulevard at 5 pm on this day, in order to investigate a theft allegation.

When they arrived the officers spoke with the loss prevention agents of the store who told them that they had seen a woman who had apparently been stealing cosmetics.

The loss prevention agents said the woman had entered the store and had concealed cosmetics that she had taken from the display shelves inside her purse, and that this woman was still presumed to be inside the store.

As the loss prevention agents were speaking to the officers the woman was seen to exit the store, so the officers ran after her and apprehended her outside the store.

The officers searched this woman and discovered the items inside the purse.

They looked further and found that the woman had concealed extra cosmetic items inside her pockets.

The officers arrested this woman, and as they were in the process of putting her inside the patrol car she became angry and spat in the face of one of the officers, thus adding battery upon a police officer to the charge of theft that she already faced.

Bail was set at $20,000.
