A 57-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested Friday, Aug. 9 after exposing his genitals to a pedestrian in the 100 block of Broadway and asking the man to orally copulate him.

At 5:51 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department received a radio call about a report of a man who had exposed himself in a lewd fashion to pedestrians near Santa Monica Place.

The officers were also given a description of this man, including the fact that he was wearing a red gown.

When the officers arrived they immediately recognized a man as someone who fit the description so they detained him.

The officers then spoke with the person who had called the report in and he told them that he had been leaving a local convenience store when he saw the man in red sitting on a bench nearby.

The man in red had then suddenly rose from his seated position and exposed his genitals to the reporting party for three to five seconds, or at least the time it took for the man in red to ask the reporting party if he would care to orally copulate him.

The reporting party in essence declined this proposition by ignoring this man, telling the officer that he presumed that the man in red had mental problems.

The reporting party then advised the officers that he would like the man in red to be arrested.

The officers performed a private person’s arrest and this Santa Monica resident was charged with indecent exposure.

Bail was set at $10,350.
