Santa Monica police extradited murder suspect Patrick Salmon from Pittsburgh to California on Thursday in relation to a 1980 cold case.

SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis said Salmon, 53, was extradited by investigators from the Santa Monica Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division.

Lewis said Salmon was transported and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail where he is being held pending his next court date, which is unknown at this time.

Salmon is accused in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old during a home invasion in Santa Monica in 1980.

CBS Pittsburgh reports that Salmon was arrested and placed in the Allegheny County Jail on May 17, but SMPD detectives had to get a Governor’s Warrant in California and Pennsylvania in order to extradite him back.

Detectives reopened the case two years ago and traced Salmon to Pittsburgh, specifically Shaler Township, according to CBS Pittsburgh.

Great Job indeed. .More than 30 years ! I wonder what it took so many years to get the accused behind the bar ? I hope it should not take another 30 years to get the justice.

Police are so wrong how do you give two scarred to death kids a sweet deal like blame somebody or do life.they got a couple years for killing someone they probably had a beef with and when they get caught they just blame it on some homeless guy and only know his nickname.comeon your gonna rob and maybe shoot someone with somebody you dont even know thier real name.what a fxxxxn wonder so many murders in calif.your gonna let a sick innocent guy die waiting to be cleared in a sorry pittifull case where there is not one single shred of evedance against this guy or anyone but the two who did enforcement in calif.and most crime ridden places are no more than organized criminals themselves who would do anything for a pat on the back.liars all of em .the two rats and the cops who bunked the case.they must be watching csi too much or something.what a shame for pat salmon,i just hope being in that jail dont kill him..then calif.state should be charged with manslaughter.

this is so wrong. Do not accuse or convict until know facts are the truth. Do not label a a person a murderer until tried and true. If you do not know the facts, don't label and judge.

Its 2016 and my grandfather is still in their. Family Torn apart, hearts broken, Hes missed out on so much of his family's life. for what? where is the evidence may i ask? Their is none. Why? because he did not do it. It makes me sick to my stomach how they could just take a older man, that was VERY sick and just not think twice about it. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
