A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with domestic violence on Saturday, June 6, after throwing his girlfriend onto a coffee table inside her home.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1800 block of Seventh Street at 2 pm in order to investigate a report of domestic violence.When the officers arrived they spoke with the victim who told them that her “boyfriend” (a 29-year-old man who was homeless) had thrown her onto a coffee table.
The victim added that this “boyfriend” had become enraged after he had spotted her speaking to one of her friends outside the address.
She continued to explain that after she had finished the conversation with said friend she had attempted to enter her home, but was restricted from doing so by the fact that the “boyfriend” had locked the door and would not let her in.
The victim told the officers that she had then repeatedly knocked on the door and yelled for the “boyfriend” to allow her to enter the home when suddenly the “boyfriend” had opened the door violently, grabbed the victim, dragged her into the home, and thrown her onto the coffee table.
The victim said that at that point she had feared for her life and had rushed into the bedroom and locked the door.
It was while she was in the bedroom that she had summoned the assistance of the police.
The officers went in search of the “boyfriend” and discovered him a short time later walking down the street. This “boyfriend” was arrested and charged with domestic violence. Bail was set at $50,000.
