President Barack Obama today endorsed Congressman Henry Waxman for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives from the 33rd District of California.
The new 33rd district includes Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Agoura Hills, Venice, Mar Vista, and the South Bay.
In a press release, Obama said that Waxman "has always fought for what is right and in the best interests of California and our nation."
"Each of us has benefitted from his strong leadership on environmental protection, providing access to affordable health care for every American and tackling government waste and abuse," Obama said in the press release. "I will continue to rely on Congressman Waxman's help over the next four years to move our nation forward and to create an economy that's built to last.”
Congressman Waxman is the current Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
“I am grateful to President Obama for his endorsement and I am hopeful that the voters of the 33rd District send me back to Washington to work with my strong ally and friend,” Waxman said.
Congressman Henry Waxman has been an effective leader on behalf of California in the U.S. House of Representatives for nearly four decades, including chairmanships of the House Energy and Commerce and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committees, addressing a range of health and environmental issues.
