Anyone know if he was lane-splitting? I know it's legal. maybe it shouldn't be.

I don't know what traffic is like on the westbound 10 transitioning to northbound PCH at that time of the morning, but the tunnel is scary any time of the day because you can't see ahead because of the curavature. Add cars traveling at freeway speed entering a blind tunnel and then emerging onto PCH and it's an accident waiting to happen. I can't see any sane motorcyclist lane-splitting in the tunnel. As a long-time motorcycle commuter from SM to downtown, lane-splitting is safe when done correctly and courteously.

Lane Splitting is legal in California and if done properly is safer for motorcyclists and helps traffic congestion. Here's a video explaining how and why

traffic came to a complete stop on both lanes. Oncoming traffic was unable to see cars completely stopped due to a curve in the highway. He didn't see the cars were stopped and he crashed into the the car going full speed, then bounced to and from two additional cars until his motorcycle came to a stop :(. Very sad

Accident was not a result of Lane splitting. Was a result of excess speed in a low visibility area.
