A 42-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested inside the Denny’s Restaurant at 1560 Lincoln Boulevard on Aug. 23 after he began shouting abusive comments at other diners then refused to pay for his meal.
At 1:38p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called the restaurant in order to deal with the man causing the disturbance at the popular inexpensive eatery.
When the officers arrived they spoke with the manager who told them that the man had entered the restaurant and during the course of his meal this man had, for no apparent reason, begun to shout abusive comments at other diners.
He had made two couples so distressed that they had canceled their orders and left. At that point the manager had received enough of this behavior and had asked this man to pay for his meal and leave the premises.
The man refused to do this and so the police were called. The officers asked this man to pay his bill and leave, but he said he did not have any money and was not going to leave anyway.
The officers, in response to this attitude, arrested this Santa Monica resident and he was charged with defrauding an innkeeper and trespass in a public business. His bail was set at $5,000.
