Malibu DUI Checkpoint Nets Two Drunk Drivers

A DUI checkpoint Friday on Pacific Coast Highway at north and southbound Carbon Canyon Road in Malibu netted a handful of arrests, including two for suspected drunk driving.

Sheriff's personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Malibu / Lost Hills Station, conducted the DUI/Drivers License checkpoint as part of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department commitment to public safety.

This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Malibu.

The goal of the DUI/DL Checkpoint was removing impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Here are the stats from the operation:

-- 2786 vehicles through the checkpoint

-- 1561 drivers checked at the checkpoint

-- 2 drivers were arrested for driving under the Influence

-- 1 driver was arrested for a felony grand theft warrant

-- 1 driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance

-- 3 drivers were arrested for outstanding warrants 8 suspended/revoked driver was arrested and sent to court

-- 6 unlicensed drivers were arrested and sent to court

-- 6 drivers were cited for not having their license in possession and sent to  Court seven vehicles were impounded for 30 days

-- 4 vehicles were stored for one day

-- 11 drivers were given Field Sobriety Tests
