Actor John Stamos was cited for suspicion of drunken driving, and today thanked Beverly Hills police for their help. Stamos was stopped in his vehicle near replica watches the intersection of Beverly Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard around 7:45 p.m. Friday, said Beverly Hills police Lt. Lincoln Hoshino.
The 51-year-old actor was taken to a hospital due to a medical condition, and the nature of the condition was not disclosed, Hoshino said.
The actor said in a subsequent Tweet that he was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Stamos was found to have been drunk after investigation at the hospital, Hoshino said. He was cited and released to the care of the hospital, the lieutenant said.
“Thanks to everyone for their love and support,” said a message on the actor’s Twitter feed today. “I’m home and well. Very appreciative of the BHPD and Cedars for their care.”
Stamos is due to appear in court Sept. 11, Hoshino said.
Stamos is best known for his role as Uncle Jesse in the 1987-95 ABC comedy “Full House.” He is set to return in the role in the sequel “Fuller House,” set to be shown on Netflix beginning in 2016.
He is also set to star in the new Fox comedy, “Grandfathered,” set to premiere this fall.
