A 33-year-old woman on vacation from Honolulu was arrested after becoming violent in a Santa Monica hostel on Friday, Jan. 25.
At 3:52 a.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the hostel at 1432 Second Street after they had received a report about a guest who was causing a disturbance.
When the officers arrived they spoke with an employee who told them what had happened.
The employee said that a guest at the hostel had gone out that evening and had returned in a very intoxicated state. She had begun to argue with staff at the front counter of the hostel and was eventually escorted by staff back to her dormitory.
Once at the dormitory this drunken guest started a fight with another female, and punched the other female in the face.
The first officer at the location went to the dormitory and the suspect immediately began to argue with the officer.
The suspect then suddenly charged at the officer and attacked, biting and kicking at the officers, who responded by taking the suspect down to the ground.
Other officers arrived and this resident of Honolulu, Hawaii, was arrested and charged with battery upon police personnel, assaulting a police officer, battery upon an officer, resisting officers, and last, but not least, public intoxication.
Bail was set at $20,000.
