Herb Alpert Educational Village To Be Celebrated Sunday In Santa Monica:

Herb Alpert and Lani Hall will entertain invited friends and supporters of The Herb Alpert Educational Village this Sunday, March 24 at 2pm.

Performing in the new Ann and Jerry Moss Theater the Alperts will play songs from their next album “Steppin Out,” to be released in the spring.

The Sunday program will include a jazz set and songbook favorites such as “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “Moondance,” “La Vie en Rose,” “Besame Mucho,” a Carlos Jobin song medley and Tijuana Brass favorites.

Located in the heart of the City of Santa Monica’s mixed-use creative district, The Herb Alpert Educational Village is home to New Roads School, the New Visions Foundation and other non-profit organizations working in the fields of education, the arts, the environment, and social justice.

The goal of The Herb Alpert Educational Village founders and supporters is to create a new model for innovative, collaborative, and inclusive education.

In addition to providing office space for the non-profit partners, and specialty classroom space for New Roads School, the new green facility houses the 344-seat state-of-the-art Ann and Jerry Moss Theater, the Capshaw-Spielberg Center for Arts and Educational Justice and a 2,000-square-foot community forum.

These spaces allow for enhanced programming at New Roads School and provide a resource for the entire community.

“We are deeply grateful to the individuals, families and foundations whose collective spirit of giving and passion for innovative and open education has helped bring to life our vision for The Herb Alpert Educational Village,” said New Visions founder and CEO, Paul Cummins.  “Our afternoon of music with Herb and Lani promises to be an unforgettable celebration for our community, and is one more example of the visions and gracious generosity of Herb and Lani.”

Herb Alpert and Lani Hall Alpert are known for their transformative, arts and education-focused philanthropy, as well as their prominent place in musical history.

“With their leadership and the support of so many of our families and friends, we at New Roads have been able to remain true to our founding mission of providing quality college preparatory education to a diverse student body, and to pursue our mission in new ways, benefiting from the spectacular new facility that we have just completed,” said President and Head of School, David Bryan.
