On Sunday, April 29, at 6:45 p.m., officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to 20th Street and Delaware Avenue after hearing about an assault with a deadly weapon that had occurred.
The victim told officers that he had been driving his car and had stopped at the intersection of 20th and Delaware when a grey Dodge Caravan approached his driver’s side window.
The victim said that the driver was pointing an air soft gun at him with an orange tip.
As this vehicle passed by the suspect fired the gun at his driver’s side window, and the projectile hit it, but it did not shatter.
The suspect then fled the area in the Dodge Caravan.
The officers then conducted a search of the area and located the Dodge Caravan parked in the southwest corner of Virginia Park.
The officers found the suspect, a 19-year-old man from Inglewood, as well as this man’s passenger.
The officers arrested this suspect and he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
His bail was set at $30,000.
