Create Customized “Wellness” Pairing During Santa Monica Eat Well Week:

In celebration of Santa Monica’s 2nd annual Eat Well Week, the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau is encouraging the community to create customized “wellness pairing” experiences.

Eat Well Week, which launched Sunday and runs through Sunday, Jan. 12,  has more than a dozen top restaurants offering discounted prix fixe menus and new healthy menu options that satisfy both the wallet and waistline.

The SMCVB has also compiled a list of activities from the Santa Monica wellness community for the New Year (see link at bottom of article).

One popular idea: discover Santa Monica on bike.

Rent a bike at one of Perry’s on the Beach’s four Santa Monica locations and exploring beautiful Santa Monica on two wheels.

Learn about Perry’s bike services, tours, and beach rentals and services at www.perryscafe.com.

After renting a bike, considering heading to Ristorante Al Mare on the Santa Monica Pier.

For $29 per person, diners can enjoy three courses as part of its Eat Well Week menu.

Appetizer selections include:

— Buffalo mozzarella bruschetta, sliced tomato and basil pesto.

— Seared tuna carpaccio, crushed potato, Taggiasche olives, and parsley pesto.

— Pulled chicken breast salad, arugula, dried cranberries, hazelnuts, and Balsamic.

Entrée selections include:

— Hand made organic butternut squash tortellini and fresh ricotta with butter and sage.

— Grilled jumbo shrimp over vegetable cous cous with raisins and crustacean bisque.

— Mixed grilled veggies pizza with olives, chopped tomato, basil oil, and fresh burrata cheese.

For dessert, enjoy Pineapple tar-tar with low fat yogurt foam and strawberry yogurt sorbet.

Al Mare is located at 250 Santa Monica Pier. For reservations or more information, call 310.458.4448 or visit ristorantealmare.com.
