City Council Returns to Full Agenda:

The Santa Monica City Council is back in action today three weeks after its last public meeting and the Council has a full agenda including 11 matters on the consent calendar.

A public hearing is scheduled to determine whether the Council should approve Multifamily Housing Revenue Bonds, issued by the California Statewide Communities Development Authority, to assist in the financing of several senior group housing facilities.

The affected senior housing facilities include 24 individual living quarters at 1924 and 1934 Euclid Street, an additional 18 individual quarters at 1753 18th Street, and seven dwelling units at a project at 1754 19th Street.

Meanwhile, a study session will be held to discuss Civic Center and Downtown area access, including improvements to the Land Use and Circulation Element (LUCE) in hopes projects such as the Exposition Light Rail terminus, Santa Monica Place, and Palisades Garden Walk will help the City of Santa Monica achieve “high economic benefit with comparatively low traffic impacts relative to other similar destinations in Southern California.”

Another study session agenda item is a presentation on the status of the Violence Prevention Action Plan.

Signage will also be discussed at today’s Council meeting, as the board will consider a Municipal Code amendment to “more clearly post signs” concerning large vehicle and trailer parking restrictions, while also considering the adoption of “on-street parking regulations for specific vehicle heights.”

When the Council returns from its closed session, it will present special commendations 13 downtown businesses for “aiding and assisting participants of the 2011 L.A. Marathon.”

The Council met in closed session on April 5 to conduct its evaluation of the City’s employees, including City Manager Rod Gould, City Attorney Marsha Jones Moutrie, and City Clerk Maria Stewart.

Today’s Council meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., but the board will be in closed session until at least 6:30 p.m.
