10-Foot Gray Whale Washes Ashore In Santa Monica:

A dead neonate gray whale washed ashore in Santa Monica State Beach on Tuesday.

A dead 10-foot-long, 1,200-pound newborn gray whale washed ashore in Santa Monica on Tuesday.

The whale, which washed up near lifeguard tower 12, was taken off the beach by Santa Monica city maintenance workers.

An employee of the Natural History Museum was called to Santa Monica to investigate the reason for the whale’s death, according to county lifeguard Lydia Barillas.

The New West Symphony announced Wednesday that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Annenberg Foundation’s Alchemy program and a $3,500 grant from the League of American Orchestras to support the development of a four-year strategic plan as the Symphony approaches its 25th anniversary celebration during the 2019-2020 concert season.
