Temple Beth Shir Shalom has announced the formation of a newly created B’ney Mitzvah program for adults.
Starting Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., classes will continue for about 18 months, culminating in a community B’ney Mitzvah ceremony in the fall of 2013.
“We are very excited about the program,” says Beth Shir Shalom Rabbi Neil Comess-Daniels. “It is important to provide opportunities for adults to prepare for and participate in this very special Jewish ritual surrounded by friends and family—especially parents who share this experience with their children, but have not had their own ceremony as children.”
The B’ney Mitzvah classes encompassing Hebrew and Judaica are conducted by Rabbi Comess-Daniels, and Beth Shir Shalom Religious School Principal Bill Concoff. Adds Rabbi Comess-Daniels, “Even participants who can only read Hebrew in an English transliteration will be reading from the Torah by the end of the program.”
The program’s cost for Beth Shir Shalom members is $360 and includes the basic program books and materials. The cost for non-members is $600.
