Holiday Hop Along Pico Boulevard In Santa Monica This Saturday Afternoon:

Businesses on Pico Boulevard from the ocean to 34th Street in Santa Monica will take part in a “Holiday Hop Along Pico” this Saturday, Dec. 6 from noon to 6 pm.

The Pico Improvement Organization (PIO) sponsored event will include festivities for adults and children including entertainment, refreshments, and shopping specials

This year the former Holiday Art Walk has been enhanced with additional music, refreshments, and entertainment from 26th Street to 34th Street with additional merchant participation along the western section of Pico.

PIO said Pico Boulevard is becoming a more and more popular and eclectic stretch of Santa Monica which provides “endless reasons to #HolidayHopAlong Pico and #BuyLocal.”

The parking lot of the Venice Family Clinic at 26th and Pico will feature live music, including the internationally famous band The Lads, children’s activities, and refreshments from Gilbert’s El Indio, along with Santa Claus stopping by at noon for a couple of hours before he is transported to Acapillow (3030 Pico) for more photos and listening to children’s wishes for the holidays.

Entertainment along the boulevard heading east will also feature the Oceanaires. Also, from 4-6 pm, the Jake Davis Band will be playing at Acapillow and there will be live music and refreshments at the Kronovet Realty patio (3019 Pico).

Merchants offering special discounts and coupons during the month of December will be recognized by the big red bow at the entrance to the “special” establishment and Santa’s elves will be distributing information as they stroll Pico.

Some of the shopping and dining specials to be featured, not just on Dec. 6, but throughout the month of December include:

• Acapillow (3030 Pico): Month long special by mentioning “Buy Local”

• Artistic Picture Frames (3129 Pico): Mini frames and more

• Cherry Picked (2809 Pico): Clothing discounts ranging from 20-50 percent

• Rocco’s (1701 Pico): Free cup of coffee with purchase of cheesecake slice

• Virtual Snow (3105 Pico): Free “rides” on December 6

In addition to Santa Claus, the Pico elves will be hopping along from 26th Street to 34th Street, with lists of specials and additional information for holiday activities.

Pico Boulevard Santa Monica offers an endless range of shopping and dining choices — from art galleries to Z Garden cuisine.

The Pico Improvement Organization will also be collecting canned goods for the Westside Food Bank throughout December with donation bins located at Bowlmor Lanes (234 Pico), Gilbert’s (2526 Pico), Rocco’s (1701 Pico), Unurban Coffee House (3301 Pico), Walgreen’s (Pico at Lincoln), and Yummy.com (1308 Pico).
