Sasha Stone

Mirror Contributing Writer

The Athletic Department at Santa Monica College will have two coaches heading its volleyball and aquatics programs this fall.
Eileen Corliss will move up from assistant to coach for volleyball,
taking over for Elaine Roque during her yearlong sabbatical. Corliss
assisted Roque, her long-time friend and training partner, during the Spring '99 men's volleyball season.
Corliss, who currently teaches science at Santa Monica High School, began her tenure with with the Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School District at
Lincoln Middle School before moving on to Santa Monica High, where she served as Head Coach for women's volleyball.
Steven Contersy will take over the aquatics position and with it, the
Swimming program in the spring. Contersy will also serve as assistant to Head Water Polo Coach Mike Garibaldi, primarily with the women's teams. Fresh off of leading the Venice High's Men's swim team to its fifth City Section title; Contersy has been actively involved with coaching Team Santa Monica since 1994.
