Elkins Names VP

George Elkins Mortgage Banking Company has announced that Trevor Broderick has joined the Los Angeles office as a vice president.
The Los Angeles office is located at 12100 Wilshire Boulevard. The firm also has offices in Santa Barbara, Newport Beach and San Diego.

Film Workers Protest

For the second time this year, over 2,000 film and television industry employees rallied on Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday to protest the flight of California productions to other countries.
Actors, costumers, boom operators, cinematographers and other industry workers report that as production companies make more and more films overseas, they have less and less work.
Two bills, introduced in the State Assembly by Scott Wildman (D- Los Angeles) and Sheila Kuehl ( D - Santa Monica) call for California to offer a 10% tax credit on production-related labor costs if the productions are shot in California using local workers. The bills were scheduled to be heard by the Senate Appropriations Committee this week.

Contract Awarded to SM Firm

Pacific Sierra Research of Santa Monica has been awarded a $250,000 contract from Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts for aircraft components.
