Arcadia, New Pier Bistro, Opens Tonight
Mirror Staff
For nearly two years, the east end of the old Billiards Building on Santa Monica Pier has been dark. Tonight, after a $500,000 renovation, a new restaurant-nightclub, Arcadia, will open on the site of the former Ash Grove nightclub.
Music executive Robert Tauro and restaurateur Robert Schwan of Chaya Venice and 72 Market Street, in Venice, have a 20-year lease with the City, which owns all the buildings on the Pier, and have turned the historic space into a 350-seat restaurant and nightclub.
Pascal Frapech is the executive chef for Arcadia.
The Second City Alumni Comedy Jam will perform every Wednesday night, with Gospel and Jazz brunches set for Sundays and band concerts on weekends.
The Billiards building, which is just west of the Carousel, was built in 1917, and was remodeled and restored by the City in the early 1990s.
