Westside Teens Invited To
Brotherhood Camp
Westside
teenagers enrolled in any Los Angeles or Santa Monica public or
private school are invited to attend this years week-long
multi-racial Brotherhood-Sisterhood summer camp at a site in the San
Bernadino Mountains near Redlands.
Founded in 1950, the program is sponsored by the
National Conference for Community and Justice (formerly known as the
National Conference of Christians and Jews). It will be held August 21
to 27. Up to 150 students are expected to attend. The primary purpose
of the camp is to assist campers in confronting racism in themselves
and their fellow campers.
At least a portion of participants fees is often
provided by their schools or school district. The balance is
subsidized by National Conference scholarship funds from the Herb
Alpert Foundation and other sources.
Interested students should call 213 250 8787.
