Hollywood's Sundance Unreels Its Third Festival

Sasha Stone

Mirror Contributing Writer

The Hollywood Film Festival marks its third successful year with a conference at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The five-day event, which begins Thursday, aims to bridge the gap between emerging independent filmmakers and professionals.

The Hollywood Film Conference will begin on Thursday, at 9:30 a.m., with an introduction by the festival's founder Carlos de Abreu. At 10 a.m., there will be a panel discussion with executives from Artisan, New Line, Seventh Art and Twentieth Century Fox called "Hollywood Finance Mart." At 1 p.m., it's the keynote speaker and publisher of the Hollywood Reporter, Robert Dowling, and 3 p.m. a panel discussion aptly named "The Gatekeepers," with story editors and story analysts.

The Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday evening, August 9, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, has chosen Jack Lemmon as the recipient of its lifetime achievement award. Films screened during the festival will also be up for awards at the ceremony.

The Hollywood Film Market, a non-competitive event, will showcase films on August 6-8 to provide an opportunity for acquisition executives, agents, producers, reps, festival programmers and other industry members to view recently completed motion pictures available for distribution.

Ticket prices to the conference are $295 for a four day pass, $195 for a one day pass. Screenings are $8 each, or $50 for a festival pass.

For more information, call (213) 480-3232, or visit the festival’s website at http://www.hollywoodfestival.com.
