Hollywood's Sundance Unreels
Its Third Festival

The Hollywood
Film Festival marks its third successful year with a conference at the
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The five-day event, which begins Thursday,
aims to bridge the gap between emerging independent filmmakers and
professionals.
The Hollywood Film Conference will begin on Thursday,
at 9:30 a.m., with an introduction by the festival's founder Carlos de
Abreu. At 10 a.m., there will be a panel discussion with executives
from Artisan, New Line, Seventh Art and Twentieth Century Fox called
"Hollywood Finance Mart." At 1 p.m., it's the keynote
speaker and publisher of the Hollywood Reporter, Robert Dowling,and 3
p.m. a panel discussion aptly named "The Gatekeepers," with
story editors and story analysts.
The Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony on Monday
evening, August 9, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, has chosen Jack Lemmon
as the recipient of its lifetime achievement award. Films screened
during the festival will also be up for awards at the ceremony.
The Hollywood Film Market, a non-competitive event,
will showcase films on August 6-8 to provide an opportunity for
acquisition executives, agents, producers, reps, festival programmers
and other industry members to view recently completed motion pictures
available for distribution.
Ticket prices to the conference are $295 for a four
day pass, $195 for a one day pass. Screenings are $8 each, or $50 for
a festival pass.
