Protest of Street Performer Rules Is Planned

The Alliance for Survival, a Santa Monica-based group,
has called for a "one-hour, peaceful" sit-in, vigil and
protest at the offices of the
Bayside District Corporation, 1351 Third Street Promenade, on Monday,
August 9, at 1 p.m.
The Alliance is also asking people to phone the
Bayside District offices (310 393 8355) to register their objections
to the recently enacted rules and regulations governing street
performers on the Promenade and Santa Monica Pier.
A circular announcing the protest states:
"Rotation Shmotation! Rotate Tires not People!...oppose
over-restrictive policies for street performers, artists and free
speech tables...and to call for long overdue mediative ‘Win-Win’
solution instead.
