Ethertable Cafe Opens on Main Street

Mirror staff

LA Bridge Internet, based in Marina del Rey, has opened a new cybercafe, Ethertable, on Main Street in Santa Monica.

At Ethertable, each customer is assigned a full-service remote workplace, including a full suite of Internet and Desktop publishing applications, individual accounts, printing and scanning. Customers have the option of plugging in their own laptops at a reduced rate.

Tony Cappelli, an LA Bridge principal and creator of the Ethertable concept, said, "This set-up is ideal for business and vacation travelers who have work to do and need high speed access and a robust application mix."

Ethertable assigns each regular customer a private directory where files are backed up at night and individual preferences are saved.

Customers with ongoing accounts have file transfer access to their directories, allowing them to upload their work before they come in or download their files after they have left. Graphic designers can bring their files in on Zip discs, upload them to their private directory and work on them, according to Cappelli.

Ethertable uses Apple Imac computers, but also provides access to Windows and Linux. Every computer includes three sets of applications: Desktop publishing, HTML (Web) development and Internet communication.

Beginning next month, Ethertable will make "wireless" bridges available to its customers.

Food and coffee at Ethertable are provided by Mani’s Bakery.

Ethertable is located at 2507 Main Street and is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

Founded in 1995, LA Bridge Internet is a privately owned Internet service provider specializing in high speed DSL Internet access and Macintosh web hosting.
