Malibu Arts Festival Spotlights Art, Food, Music, Sun and Surf

Mirror Staff

The 28th Malibu Arts Festival kicks off Saturday morning, July 24, at 9:30 a.m. and runs through Sunday night at the Malibu Civic Center.
Approximately 200 artists from California and adjacent states will
show paintings, sculptures, photos and modern arts and crafts. This year’s particular focus will be a display of ocean-themed paintings, sculptures and mosaics.
On the food front, Granita will serve its iced dessert, “granita.” Allegeria, Duke’s Malibu, Pierview Cafe and Howdy’s are among the other restaurants participating in the Festival.
Chris Ho and his jazz trio and Mark Cote’s band will perform throughout the day Saturday. Sunday, Nedro John and Frank Capps Juggernaut Big Band will be on the bandstand.
In addition to the artists’ displays, the Malibu Orchid Society, Zuma Canyon Orchids, Allied Artists, American Diabetes Association, Arson Watch, Cornocopia Farms, Kiwanis Club, Malibu Film Festival and Malibu Seniors will have booths at the Festival.
The traditional Malibu Optimists Pancake Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. both mornings, with flapjacks, sausage and orange juice being served by civic leaders.
Admission is free and parking is available on Civic Center Way for $2.
The Malibu Civic Center is located between Cross Creek and Webb Way.
