STORM CLOUDS PASSING

DEFYING THE CALENDAR, THE BIGGEST WINTER STORM OF THE YEAR swept through Los Angeles on Monday -- with 100 mph winds, micro-bursts, heavy rain, hail, lightning and thunder -- causing power outages, freeway tie-ups, and major damage in some areas. A portion of Ocean Park lost power for two hours Monday afternoon, but over 17,000 customers were still without power Tuesday afternoon in the Paramount-Bellflower area. Some parts of the L.A. basin got over four inches of rain. More rain is expected Friday.
