Santa Claus and Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Protested War Toys on the Third Street Promenade, in Santa Monica, last Friday, November 26, traditionally the biggest single shopping day of the year. Santa, in California surfer attire, and Rudolph spoke out against toy guns, war toys and violent video games and gave merit awards to children who pledged not to buy such toys. Rudolph said, "Parents should remember that peace begins in the playpen." Their appearance in Santa Monica was sponsored by the Alliance for Survival.
