The Wilshire/Montana Neighborhood Coalition, which represents the interests of people living in the area bounded on the north by Montana Avenue, on the south by Wilshire Boulevard, on the west by Ocean Avenue and on the east by 21st Street, has elected chair Robin Waner and vice-chair Bill Bauer to second terms.
Named to the groups executive committee were treasurer Lu Artz, membership chair Marcia Carter, PR/secretary Rufus Baker, at large delegate Christina Chan, Waner and Bauer.
At its August 4 meeting, the board voted support for a St. Monicas Church plan to demolish a residential building at 1140 Seventh Street in order to make way for a church parking lot, approved historic landmark designations for three craftsman houses in the 900 block of Lincoln and also voted for a preferential parking district to cover the entire Wilshire/Montana neighborhood.
Its next meeting is set for Wednesday, September 1, at 7 p.m. in the Ken Edwards Center.
Founded in 1988, Wilshire/Montana receives some financial support from the City. It is open to anyone with an interest in the area.
