Letters To The Editor

In regards to the letter to the editor – about the crows – (January 11-17 issue) asking if there are other people out there who feel the same about the major crow problem, here I am. Plus many others in our neighborhood. We are sick of them. The crows are out of control and the City of Santa Monica does nothing.

I too have contacted animal control. “Nothing we can do.” What do they do? Just pick up dogs? The department is a joke. In our area…17th 18th and 19th streets – from Wilshire Boulevard to Arizona Avenue – neighbors are talking of ways to get rid of these pests. BB guns, pellet guns, slingshots, poison bait, etc. That’s all we need in our neighborhood, a nutcase with a pellet gun. Pellets or BB’s – like bullets – come back down. So now we can have a police problem. We need animal control or a private company.

Something has got to be done about the massive crow population in this City. Our area gets them in the afternoon. Could be early or late. The noise and poop is too much now; in the trees, on telephone poles, on the wires, on the roof. They must be having babies like crazy. We are asking for help. I use a large broom and make noise to shoo them away. One neighbor bangs on a pot with a spoon. Yeah, so now we are making noise – what’s next? Do we poop like the crows too? I bet the City would take notice then – even do something.

In the letter to the editor, the person sighed “Frustrated.” Well, I am…

“Beyond Frustrated!”

The candlelight peace vigils will have no effect on George Bush's "surge" policy but we certainly ought to bring our troops home to safety and let these barbaric freaks in Iraq kill each other as they are so gloriously taught in their "kill your neighbor and everyone else who doesn't believe like you do" version of a "holy" book.

Bring the troops home but leave all the weapons behind so they can accomplish their goal of ethnic cleaning. Americans should not lose their lives standing between opposing hordes of barbarians.

 Sincerely

Bunnie Meyer
